Single Life: Embrace it!

single-life-embrace-it

Being in your early to mid twenties and single does not mean you are bound to find a significant other, like everyone else seems to be doing. It can be little irritating when you get on Facebook and see that someone is newly engaged or happily in a relationship, but that does not mean all of us singles have to lose hope! They say the best way to meet someone is to not go out looking for them, instead let it happen naturally. When you least expect it, someone will come knocking on your door. Stop worrying about being single! You have the rest of your life to be with someone else, it is time to focus on you! Below are some ways to embrace the single life…and hey you never know, by doing so, you could meet someone special along the way.

1. Stop Comparing.  If you live your life always comparing yourself to your gorgeous friend who just got into a relationship or the bitch you hated in high school, who got engaged to their college sweetheart, you will never be okay with just being yourself! Maybe all your friends are in serious relationships and you are single, so what? It is not a competition. Once you stop comparing yourself to others you will find it much easier to focus on yourself and what it is that you want.

2. The Unknown. Yes you might be single, and yes you might be lonely, but you just have to embrace it. Sometimes the best things in life can come along when we don’t exactly know what is going to happen next. Singles really do have more fun, just ask your married friends! Being single means you are free to do whatever you want with whomever you want, and who knows what that can lead to. You will have a fun night out without having to worry about anyone else, either way it is a win/win situation.

3. About You. Being single means you can make decisions for yourself and yourself only. You don’t have to worry about anyone else and you don’t have to sacrifice anything for anyone else. Like I said, you have the rest of your life to sacrifice what you want for a significant other so why not take this time, to make decisions solely for you? It is okay to be a little selfish every once in a while, but once you are in a relationship you have to make things about both of you, so that is exactly why you should really embrace the single life, and have fun with it.

When you are getting down about being single just remember that at some point in time everyone is in the same boat. You can choose to sulk about it or you can choose to have fun with it and enjoy this time to focus on what it is you really want! And no matter what you do always remember to expect the unexpected.
